In Paris in 1975, Moebius, together with fellow rebellious bande dessinée creators Jean-Pierre Dionnet and Philippe Druillet, set out to push the boundaries of comics with mature, cerebral, provocative stories driven by a punk spirit. Metal Hurlant was their brainchild: a cutting-edge anthology published by their newly founded house, Les Humanoïdes Associés (Humanoids).
Metal Hurlant took science fiction by storm, inspiring generations of artists and crossing borders, media, and genres. Fifty years later, it is more alive than ever. In 2025, it launched its first full-scale English-language edition, continuing its founding mission: to bring together visionary creators and publish bold, genre-defying comics for a new generation of readers.
